Drops of God: travel in the footsteps of the wine, from the Rhône to Georgia
Season 2 of Drops of God is here, and the hunt for the world’s greatest wine now leads all the way to Georgia. Here are the places from the series you can visit in real life, and the hotels where you can stay in the footsteps of the wine.
The average TV viewer probably doesn’t know as much about wine as Camille Léger and Issei Tomine. But after a few episodes of Drops of God, it is hard to resist uncorking a good bottle, breathing in the aroma rising from the glass and dreaming of the vines where it all began.

Inspired by a classic Japanese manga
Drops of God, originally titled Kami no Shizuku, is based on a 2004 Japanese manga about the world of wine. In the TV series, Camille learns that her father has left her the world’s largest wine collection. To inherit it, she must compete against Issei, her father’s Japanese protégé, in blind tastings where both the wine and its vintage must be revealed against the clock.
The series won Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards in 2024, and it has inspired many viewers to pack their bags. More and more people now travel to the places where their favourite shows were filmed, a trend known as set-jetting. We have previously written about Sicily from The White Lotus and the New York hotels from Succession.
Season 1: in the footsteps of the wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Much of season 1 was filmed in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one of the world’s most famous wine regions, in the southern Rhône Valley. The region is known for powerful red wines blended from many grape varieties, including Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, and the Mediterranean climate gives both ripe grapes and long, warm days for travellers.
Apple TV told Picolo that much of the series was filmed at Château de Beaucastel, the estate where Camille grew up and which the Chassangre family runs in the series. It belongs to the Perrin family and has a history stretching back to the 1500s.
