In short
Mauritius is our first choice for a July honeymoon, in the dry and slightly cooler season outside the cyclone months. Zanzibar has one of its best months, and Bali is in the middle of its dry season. All three take you away from the summer crowds in southern Europe.
Our first choice: See rooms at LUX Grand Baie
In July the Mediterranean is hot and full. Further south it is winter in the southern hemisphere, and for newlyweds that is an advantage. On Mauritius, Zanzibar and Bali, July is the dry season, with sunshine and little rain.

Grand Baie
Grand Baie is the liveliest bay on the north coast of Mauritius.
Mauritius: LUX Grand Baie
July is winter on Mauritius, with lower humidity and pleasant days. The north coast is the most sheltered part of the island, and LUX Grand Baie sits on the bay, a couple of minutes from Grand Bay Beach. Take a boat out to the islands off the coast one day, and have dinner in Grand Baie in the evening.
Best for: couples who want a beach with some life around them.

Kendwa
From the pool at Zuri the sun sets straight into the sea.
Zanzibar: Zuri Zanzibar, Kendwa
July is in the middle of Zanzibar's long dry season. Zuri is in Kendwa on the north west coast, where the tide matters less than on the east coast, so you can swim whenever you like. The hotel has three restaurants, and a day in Stone Town is an easy outing. Many couples add a few days on safari in Tanzania.
Best for: couples who want to combine the beach with a safari on the same trip.

Ubud
The walkways at Kayon lead down to the river valley outside Ubud.
Bali: The Kayon Resort, Ubud
July is high season on Bali, with sunshine almost every day. Choose Ubud over the south coast for the first nights, and you get some calm before you head to the beaches. The Kayon Resort sits in the jungle ten minutes from the Monkey Forest, with pools stepping down towards the river valley.
Best for: couples who want jungle and spa, at a hotel that does not cost as much as the Maldives.
