Frequently asked questions about Bath
Where is Bath?
Bath is in Somerset in south-west England, around an hour and a half by train west of London and a short trip from Bristol. The city lies in the valley of the River Avon, on the edge of the Cotswolds, and the whole centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Roman baths and Georgian architecture.
Why is the city called Bath?
The city takes its name from the Roman baths built around the hot springs here almost 2,000 years ago. The Romans called the place Aquae Sulis. The baths are well preserved and one of the city's great museums, and today you can bathe in the warm spring water at Thermae Bath Spa.
Which Bridgerton locations are in Bath?
The Royal Crescent was used as the Featherington family home. Several other places in the city were also used in the series. See the full list in our guide to the Bridgerton locations.
Where should I stay in Bath?
Stay in the centre, around the Abbey, the Roman Baths and the Royal Crescent, and you can walk to everything, because Bath is compact. The area by the railway station is practical if you are coming from London, around an hour and a half by train. If you want rural calm, stay in a village in the Cotswolds and take a day trip into the city. Read Bridgerton: the places where the series was filmed.
