Our first choice: Check availability and prices at Hotel Drover
Dutton Ranch was filmed in North Texas, not in Montana. The spinoff with Beth and Rip is set in the fictional South Texas town of Rio Paloma, but its ranch, motel and streets are real places around Fort Worth.
There is no single ranch to visit. Reports differ on where the Dutton home ranch stands: some guides place it at a private working ranch near Weatherford, while others point to Ferris. It is private land either way. The Fort Worth Stockyards, Billy Bob’s Texas and downtown Cleburne are open to the public.
Where to see what
Fort Worth Stockyards: appears in the series. A public historic district.
Billy Bob’s Texas, Fort Worth: season 1, episode 7. A public venue.
Walloon’s, Fort Worth: season 1, episode 6. A restaurant.
Downtown Cleburne and South Main Street: episodes 4 and 9. Public streets.
Western Inn, Cleburne: plays a Montana motel in episode 2. A working motel.
Boyd Feed Store: episode 1. A working feed store.
Tommy’s gas station, Mineral Wells: the road stop with Rip and Azul. A roadside store.
Hamilton Meats, Weatherford: the butcher shop in episode 2. A working business.
Hotel Swexan and Stillwell’s, Dallas: episode 4. A hotel and a steakhouse.
The Dutton home ranch: the ranch itself. Private working land, not open to visitors.

What Picolo chooses
What Picolo chooses: Hotel Drover for the best-rated stay with a pool, and Stockyards Hotel for a historic hotel next to Cowtown Coliseum.
Why: Hotel Drover has the higher rating, 9.6 against 9.0, and an outdoor pool. The Stockyards Hotel has been open since 1907 and is a minute from Cowtown Coliseum.
The trade-off: the Stockyards Hotel is an older building with valet parking only, and a few guests mention noise.
Getting there
Fly into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Hotel Drover and the Stockyards Hotel are both roughly half an hour’s drive from the airport. The filming locations are spread across North Texas, so you need a car for Cleburne, Weatherford, Boyd and Mineral Wells.
The ranch in the original series is a different place: read where the Yellowstone ranch is, and whether you can visit.
Our recommendation
Hotel Drover: our first choice in the Stockyards
Hotel Drover is Picolo’s first choice for a Dutton Ranch trip. It stands on Mule Alley in the Fort Worth Stockyards, a minute on foot from the historic district. Billy Bob’s Texas, which appears in season 1, is about ten minutes away. The outdoor pool and hot tub are a rest after a day of driving to Cleburne or Weatherford, and 97 West Kitchen & Bar serves southern cuisine. More than 600 guests on Hotels.com rate it 9.6.
Frequently asked questions about Dutton Ranch filming locations
Where was Dutton Ranch filmed?
Dutton Ranch was filmed in North Texas. Dallas News lists Boyd, Ferris, Cleburne, Weatherford, Dallas, Rio Vista, Fort Worth and Mineral Wells among the locations, with Ferris reported as the main base. Production began in August 2025 and wrapped in March 2026. The series itself is set in the fictional South Texas town of Rio Paloma.
Where is the Dutton Ranch in the series?
The home ranch is a private working ranch. Some guides place it near Weatherford, while others point to Ferris, so reports differ. Picolo found no public tours of the ranch, so treat it as private land and visit the public locations in Fort Worth, Cleburne and Boyd instead.
Can you visit the Dutton Ranch filming locations?
Yes, the public ones. The Fort Worth Stockyards, Billy Bob’s Texas, downtown Cleburne, Boyd Feed Store and the gas station in Mineral Wells are open to anyone. The home ranch is private land, so enjoy the countryside from the public road and do not turn up at the gate.
Is Dutton Ranch filmed at the same ranch as Yellowstone?
No. The Dutton ranch in the original Yellowstone series is Chief Joseph Ranch in Darby, Montana, which you can only visit as an overnight guest. The spinoff Dutton Ranch is set and filmed in Texas, around Fort Worth, so the two ranches are in different states and different trips.
Where is Dutton Ranch set?
Dutton Ranch is set in Rio Paloma, a fictional town in South Texas. It was filmed in North Texas instead, in and around the Dallas and Fort Worth area, so you will not find Rio Paloma on a map. The ranch Beth and Rip buy in the story is a 7,000 acre property.
Where should you stay to visit the filming locations?
Stay in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Hotel Drover is one minute on foot from the Stockyards Historic District and has an outdoor pool, and the Stockyards Hotel is next to Cowtown Coliseum. Both are a short walk from Billy Bob’s Texas, which appears in season 1, episode 7.
When did Dutton Ranch premiere, and will there be a season 2?
Dutton Ranch premiered on 15 May 2026 on Paramount+ and the Paramount Network, with nine episodes in season 1. It was renewed for a second season in June 2026. Picolo found no premiere date for season 2, so check Paramount+ before you plan a trip around new filming.
How do you get around the filming locations?
Fly into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and rent a car. Hotel Drover is roughly half an hour’s drive from the airport. The locations are spread across North Texas, so Cleburne, Weatherford, Boyd and Mineral Wells work as separate day trips from Fort Worth.
