Real Madrid tickets: a night at the Bernabéu

The stands at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid with Real Madrid CF spelled out in white seats

The Paseo de la Castellana fills with white shirts an hour before kick-off. Under the new roof the noise has nowhere to go, and when the teams walk out eighty thousand people are already on their feet.

In short: Real Madrid tickets

Real Madrid sells most seats to club members (socios) and season-ticket holders. What reaches general sale goes fast, and El Clásico against Barcelona rarely gets there at all. For a visitor the realistic routes are official hospitality or a ticket reseller, where the seat is confirmed but prices are set by the market. La Liga confirms the exact day and kick-off about ten days before each round, so book a flexible weekend from Friday to Monday.

How to choose the right match

  • First time: a league match against a mid-table side. Easier to get, cheaper, and the stadium does the rest.

  • For the atmosphere: a Champions League night or the Madrid derby against Atlético.

  • Once in a lifetime: El Clásico. Book as early as you can and expect the highest prices of the season.

Worth knowing

  • Kick-off times

La Liga sets the day and time about ten days before each round. Evening kick-offs at 21:00 are common.

  • Getting there

Metro line 10 to Santiago Bernabéu stops right by the stadium. Allow extra time, the trains are full on matchdays.

  • ID

Bring a passport or ID card. The club can check that the name on the ticket matches the person using it.

  • Before and after

Eat tapas before the match and dinner after. Madrid restaurants serve well past midnight.

How Picolo chooses

Our editors pick every hotel and experience themselves, and most of them we have tried. Nobody can pay to be included or ranked higher. When you book through our links, Picolo earns a small commission. It never changes the price you pay, and it never decides what we write.

Real Madrid tickets: FAQ

How do I buy Real Madrid tickets as a visitor?

Through official hospitality or a ticket reseller. Members get first access to face-value tickets, and the biggest matches rarely reach general sale.

How do I get tickets for El Clásico?

El Clásico is the hardest ticket in Spanish football. For visitors the options are hospitality or a reseller, at a high price. Book as soon as the fixture is listed.

Where should I sit at the Bernabéu?

The lower tiers on the long sides give the best view of the game. The upper tiers are cheaper and show the scale of the stadium under the new roof.

Can I see the Madrid derby?

Yes. Real Madrid and Atlético meet twice a season in La Liga, once at the Bernabéu and once at the Metropolitano. Both are among the hardest tickets of the year.
