Akra Hotel
From the balcony you look across the bay to the Taurus Mountains, and below you the terraces step down to platforms over clear water.
Akra stands on the limestone cliffs just east of Kaleiçi, the walled old town. Instead of a beach, the hotel has terraces and pools that drop towards the water, ending in platforms where you climb straight down into the sea.
Plenty of rooms come with a balcony facing the bay, with the Taurus Mountains lined up on the far side. The old town is a short ride away, so dinner in the lanes and a morning swim fit into the same day.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Akra Hotel
Akra gives a first visit to Antalya both halves of the trip: a city with history close by and a hotel that feels like a resort. Couples who want to mix sightseeing with swimming will find the balance easy.
If you picture sand between your toes, this is the wrong address. Swimming here means ladders, platforms and pools, which suits confident swimmers better than families with small children. Bring water shoes for the rocks.
What you get
- Pools on terraces above the sea
- Bathing platforms on the cliffs
- Many rooms with balconies over the bay
