The Mora Sahara Tozeur
Dawn breaks over the Sahara from your own balcony, with the palm groves of Tozeur just beyond the rocks.
The sky turns pink first, then gold, and the sand lights up in front of you. At The Mora, every room has a balcony, so sunrise over the desert comes with your morning coffee.
The hotel sits near the Belvedere rocks on the edge of Tozeur, a desert town of date palms in south-west Tunisia. There are two pools outside, and the staff can arrange excursions to the dunes and to the great salt lake, Chott el Djerid.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Mora Sahara Tozeur
This is our pick for the desert. Two or three nights here make a fine contrast to a beach stay on the coast, and the trips the hotel sets up make it easy to see the Sahara without a long expedition.
Summer in Tozeur is extremely hot, and the middle of the day can be hard going even by the pool. Spring and autumn are far more comfortable. It is a place for a short stay, not a full week.
