Capella Bangkok
A bath by the window, a terrace above the water and boats drifting past: Capella turns all of its rooms towards the river.
Step onto the terrace and the river is right below you, close enough to hear the boats. Capella is built low, and every room and villa faces the Chao Phraya rather than a street or a car park.
It is one of the newest hotels on this stretch, just downstream from Mandarin Oriental. The pool follows the riverbank, and the restaurant has earned a good deal of attention since opening.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Capella Bangkok
Our romantic pick. Capella gives couples the river at its most intimate, in big rooms with deep tubs at the window and terraces almost touching the water. It feels private in a way the larger riverside hotels do not.
Expect to pay a great deal. The streets around it go quiet after dark, so nights out mean a taxi or a boat. Families wanting space to run around may prefer a hotel with a bigger garden.
