Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara

  • Pool villas
  • Beach
  • Lagoon
  • Spa
  • Frankincense ruins

Pool villas between a freshwater lagoon and the Arabian Sea, with the ruins of an old frankincense port just beyond the garden wall.

On one side of the resort there is the open sea, on the other a still lagoon full of birds. In between, villas with their own pools sit among the palms, and the spa is one of the largest on the coast.

Next door are the remains of Al Baleed, a medieval port that grew rich on the frankincense trade. The site belongs to the Land of Frankincense, a group of places listed by UNESCO.

Why we chose Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara

We chose it for a beach holiday in Oman with real history on the doorstep. Salalah also has domestic flights from Muscat, which spares you a very long drive across the desert.

Come in summer and you meet the khareef, the monsoon season, when cloud and drizzle hang over the coast. The hills inland turn green then, but this is not the time for sunbathing.

What you get

  • Villas with private pools
