Strawberry Hill
White cottages on a green ridge in Irish Town, where the afternoon mist drifts over the pool and the lights of Kingston come on below.
Strawberry Hill is a different Jamaica. The cottages are white and built in the old colonial manner, scattered over a hilltop in Irish Town, and the pool looks across steep green slopes towards the sea and Kingston.
Up here the air is cooler than on the coast, and by mid-afternoon the cloud often settles in. Evenings are for a jumper, dinner in the restaurant and an early night, with the trails and coffee farms waiting in the morning.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Strawberry Hill
We chose Strawberry Hill because nowhere else on our Jamaica list puts you in the mountains. It shows you the island's quiet, green interior, and it pairs well with a few days on a beach.
Do not come here for a beach holiday. The road up is narrow and winding, the weather can turn grey in the afternoon, and it is a long drive from Montego Bay, so fly into Kingston instead.

How do I get to Strawberry Hill?
Kingston is the nearest airport. From there the road climbs into the Blue Mountains to Irish Town. It is narrow and winding, so many guests arrange a transfer.
Is it cold at Strawberry Hill?
Not cold, but noticeably cooler than the coast, especially in the evening. Bring a light jumper, and expect cloud and mist to come in during the afternoon.
Can I combine Strawberry Hill with a beach stay?
Yes, and it works well. Spend a few nights in the mountains, then move to Port Antonio or the north coast for the sea.
