Picolo recommends · Hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica
Half Moon
A sprawling estate on the coast east of Montego Bay, where you can swap the pool for a horse ride on the beach before breakfast.
Half Moon spreads over a large stretch of coast east of Montego Bay. There is a beach of its own, pools all over the grounds, golf, tennis, a spa and stables, and you choose between rooms, suites and villas with their own pool and staff.
The scale is the point. Even when the resort is full, there is room to find a quiet lounger, and bikes are the easiest way to get from your room to the beach and back.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Half Moon
We chose Half Moon as our luxury pick in Jamaica, and because it is one of the few top resorts on the island that welcomes families as well as couples. You get space, choice and an airport close by.
It is a resort, not a window on Jamaican life, and you may not leave the grounds much. The villas are the real treat but cost accordingly, while the standard rooms feel less special.
