Hotel Savoy
Below the terrace the old carousel turns on Piazza della Repubblica, and the first spritz of the evening arrives as the square lights up.
The Savoy holds a corner of Piazza della Repubblica, the wide square in the middle of Florence where cafés, buskers and a carousel keep things moving. Its terrace faces straight onto all of it, and early evening is when to claim a table.
Behind the old façade the rooms are brighter and more modern than you might expect, with Florentine details in the textiles and artwork. Ask for an upper floor if you want the cathedral dome framed in your window.

Why we chose Hotel Savoy
We chose the Savoy for anyone who wants a proper grand city hotel: polished service, a bar worth dressing for and a front door that opens onto the centre. Every major sight in the old town is within an easy walk.
The square stays lively until around midnight, and rooms on that side hear the music. Light sleepers should request a room at the back. Travellers who prefer a relaxed, informal hotel may find the mood a little buttoned-up.
