Hotel Regency
On warm evenings dinner moves out to a small garden between the two wings, while the square outside settles into a London-like hush.
Piazza d'Azeglio is a green square with benches and a playground, more like a London garden square than anything in central Florence. Hotel Regency stands on it in an old town villa, around fifteen minutes on foot east of the Duomo.
Between its two wings is a small garden where breakfast and dinner move outdoors in the warmer months. Inside, the decor is unashamedly traditional: patterned wallpaper, heavy curtains and carpeted floors.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hotel Regency
We chose the Regency for travellers who like a smaller, classic hotel with personal service and peaceful nights. It works best if you see Florence on foot and enjoy a calm square to come home to.
The traditional style may look dated to eyes used to Nordic minimalism. The square is also short on restaurants, so most evenings you will walk to Santa Croce to eat.
