Four Seasons Hotel Firenze

  • Private park
  • Pool
  • Spa
  • Frescoes
  • Families

Behind the palazzo, old trees and winding paths run through a walled park so large and quiet that Florence seems to switch off.

The Four Seasons occupies Palazzo della Gherardesca on Borgo Pinti, a street on the north-eastern side of the old centre. Behind it lies the Giardino della Gherardesca, a park with ancient trees, paths and a pool, enclosed by walls.

Inside, frescoes and stucco work have been brought back to life through a long restoration. Add a spa and the garden, and it becomes possible to take a whole afternoon off from churches and galleries without leaving the hotel.

Picolo’s verdict

Why we chose Four Seasons Hotel Firenze

We chose it for families who need space and a pool in the city, and for couples who want the very top end and can pay for it. The garden alone changes the rhythm of a Florence trip.

It is the most expensive hotel on our list, and the walk to the Duomo takes around fifteen minutes through fairly ordinary streets. If you want the old town right outside your door, choose a hotel nearer the river.
