Alila Seminyak
A swim on the roof with the Indian Ocean below, in a modern hotel on a calmer stretch of Seminyak beach.
From the rooftop pool, the beach stretches away in both directions and the surf breaks white below. Alila Seminyak stands on the sand a little north of the busiest part of town, in clean, contemporary lines.
There are several pools to choose from, and the rooms are generous and full of light. Many of them look straight out to sea, so ask for one when you book.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Alila Seminyak
We like it for travellers who want Seminyak without the crush. You are on the beach and close to the restaurants, but the stretch outside is quieter than in the centre.
It is a big hotel, and it feels more like a modern resort than anything distinctly Balinese. If you came for temples, carvings and village life, base yourself in Ubud for part of the trip.
