The Leela Palace New Delhi
A pool on the roof above the green avenues of the embassy district, with Delhi turning orange in the winter dusk.
Up on the roof the city noise drops away, and the pool looks out over the treetops of Chanakyapuri. This is the diplomatic quarter of New Delhi, with wide streets and embassies behind tall gates.
Inside, The Leela Palace is built like a modern palace: marble floors, chandeliers and large rooms with marble bathrooms. It is grand without being old.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Leela Palace New Delhi
We chose it for the calm and the scale. After a day in Old Delhi, coming back to a large room, a marble bath and a swim on the roof is about as restful as the city gets.
Chanakyapuri is quiet because it is away from the old city. You will need a car for most sightseeing, and in summer the rooftop is too hot by day.
