Taj Fateh Prakash Palace
From the terrace you look straight across Lake Pichola to the white Lake Palace, with the hills behind Udaipur turning gold.
At sunset the terrace fills with people watching the light change on the water, while the Lake Palace glows white in the middle of it. Fateh Prakash belongs to the City Palace complex, the royal residence that runs along the eastern shore of Lake Pichola.
Rooms and suites look out over the lake. Inside, the Durbar Hall, the old royal reception hall, is known for its collection of furniture made of crystal. Outside the gates, the bazaars and lanes of the old town begin.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Taj Fateh Prakash Palace
We chose it for travellers who want the palace experience without being cut off on an island. You can walk out into the city whenever you like, and the view from the terrace is the one everyone else is trying to photograph.
You get less space here than on the island, though you also pay less. The City Palace is a major sight, so the surroundings are busy with visitors during the day. Come for the town and the views, not for space.
