The Oberoi Mumbai

  • Sea views
  • Nariman Point
  • Marine Drive
  • Modern rooms
  • Business trips

Wake to the Arabian Sea filling a wall of glass, at the point where Marine Drive curves to an end and the city goes quiet.

Outside, Mumbai never stops. Inside The Oberoi, the noise drops away and most rooms open onto the sea through large windows. The hotel stands at Nariman Point, the business district on the southern tip of the city, where Marine Drive, the long seafront promenade, comes to an end.

The look is contemporary and restrained, with clean lines and little decoration. What people tend to remember is the service, which ranks among the most attentive in Mumbai, and the feeling of having found a still room in a very loud city.

Picolo’s verdict

Why we chose The Oberoi Mumbai

We picked The Oberoi for the calm and the view. If you want a sea outlook, a good night's sleep and staff who get things right, often on a work trip, it is hard to do better in the city.

What it lacks is history. The building is modern and does not have the stories or the old interiors of the Taj in Colaba. If the heritage of the city is why you are coming, stay there instead.

What you get

  • Windows facing the Arabian Sea in most rooms
  • Some of the best service in Mumbai
  • Calm, modern rooms
  • Sunsets over the sea along Marine Drive
  • Base in the Nariman Point business district
