Anassa
Whitewashed houses, lanes and a small chapel step down to a sandy bay on the far north-west corner of Cyprus.
You walk to breakfast along a lane between white walls, past a little chapel, with the bay below already bright. Anassa is designed as a village rather than a block, on the coast by Latchi in the island's north-west corner.
Below the gardens lies the sand of Chrysochou Bay. To one side rises the Akamas, a wild, protected peninsula crossed by footpaths, and the fishing harbour at Latchi is just along the shore for a seafood lunch.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Anassa
It earns its place as one of the island's classic luxury addresses. The village design makes a big hotel feel intimate, and the setting between sea and protected hillsides is the calmest corner of Cyprus.
Remoteness is the price. Paphos airport, Limassol and the mountain villages are all long drives away, so it suits a stay-put holiday better than a road trip around the island.
