1 Hotel West Hollywood
Reclaimed wood, greenery everywhere and south-facing rooms where the whole of Los Angeles spreads out below the window.
Draw the curtains in a south-facing room and the city fills the window, a grid of streets running all the way to the horizon. Inside, the hotel is built with reclaimed timber and filled with plants, so it feels softer than most addresses on Sunset.
A garden shields the entrance from the boulevard, and up on the roof there is a pool with the same wide view. Hollywood and Beverly Hills are each a short ride away, and the hills behind lead up to the viewpoints facing the Hollywood sign.

Why we chose 1 Hotel West Hollywood
For a first trip to Los Angeles, this is where we would start. It is central in a city with no real centre, the design is fresh without being cold, and the view does a lot of the work of explaining the city to you.
Weekends are lively, both at the hotel and along the Strip, and lower floors pick up the noise. Ask for a room high up, and remember you will still need taxis for the beach and Downtown.
What you get
- Rooftop pool with city views
- Garden screening the street
- Plants and reclaimed wood throughout
- South-facing rooms over the city
- Short rides to Hollywood and Beverly Hills
