The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal
An Italian-style resort strung along a canal, with lawns, pools and the white domes of the Grand Mosque filling the view from many rooms.
Look up from the lawn and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is there across the water. The Ritz-Carlton is laid out like an Italian villa along a canal, and a good share of its rooms face the mosque.
The grounds are generous, with gardens, several pools and a strip of sand on the canal. It is close to the airport and the mosque, but the centre and Saadiyat need a taxi. It is a resort you can happily stay inside for a day or two.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal
We like it for the space. Families get room to spread out between pools and lawn, couples get mosque views, and the airport is close enough for an easy first or last night.
The location is a trade-off. You are some way from the city centre and from Saadiyat's sea beaches, so most outings start with a taxi. The beach here faces the canal, not the open sea.
