Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat
Wooden lodges among the cocoa trees, a restaurant that puts chocolate into dinner and Petit Piton rising beyond the pool.
Rabot started life as a cocoa estate in the hills near Soufrière, and cocoa still grows here under the ownership of the British chocolate maker Hotel Chocolat. Guests sleep in wooden lodges set among the rainforest and the cocoa trees, and the air smells green after rain.
At Boucan, the restaurant, cocoa turns up in nearly everything, savoury dishes as well as desserts. You can also join a session where you turn the beans into a bar of your own. From the pool, the view runs out to Petit Piton.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat
We chose Rabot for travellers who want St Lucia's rainforest and food rather than another beach resort. It is unusual, rooted in the island's cocoa history, and the kitchen gives you a reason to stay in for dinner.
There is no beach, so sea days mean a drive down to the coast. If lying on the sand is the main point of your holiday, one of the beach hotels near the Pitons will suit you better.
