Ladera Resort
A room with one side missing, a plunge pool at the edge and Gros Piton filling the view from the moment you wake.
Ladera is built along a ridge high above the sea, with Gros Piton on one side and Petit Piton on the other. Instead of a window, most rooms simply leave the view side open, and many add a plunge pool right at the edge, so the mountains become part of the room.
The hotel's restaurant, Dasheene, cooks Creole food and draws diners from elsewhere on the island at sunset. Below lies the valley and, far down, the sea. Soufrière, the old capital with its sulphur springs and waterfalls, is a short drive away.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Ladera Resort
We picked Ladera because it gives you the same theatrical Piton view as the island's most famous hotel at a gentler price. Adults only, quiet and built around the scenery, it suits couples who would rather stay in than go out.
The sea is far below, so a swim means a hotel transfer rather than a stroll. Open rooms also let in insects, rain and birdsong, and anyone who likes four solid walls should look elsewhere.
What you get
- Open-sided rooms facing the Pitons
- Plunge pools in many rooms
- Dasheene restaurant with Creole cooking
- Transfers down to the beach
- Sunset over the valley

Is Ladera Resort adults only?
Yes, Ladera only takes adults, which keeps the mood quiet and suits couples. Families with children will find more space and activities at the resorts in the north of the island.
How far is the beach from Ladera Resort?
The hotel sits high on a ridge, so the sea is well below. The hotel arranges transport down to the beach, and you will want it, as walking there is not realistic.
Can I eat at Dasheene without staying at Ladera?
Yes, outside guests are welcome, and plenty of visitors come up for dinner as the light fades. Book ahead in the dry season, when the island is at its busiest.
