Jade Mountain Resort

  • No fourth wall
  • Infinity pools
  • Piton views
  • Romance
  • Beach below

You wake to the Pitons framed by nothing at all, because the wall that should be there simply is not.

At Jade Mountain the rooms are called sanctuaries, and each one stops at the edge of the view. There is no glass and no fourth wall, only the Pitons ahead and, in most of them, an infinity pool that seems to pour straight into the scenery.

The hotel stands high on the hillside above Anse Chastanet, its sister resort, and guests head down there for the beach, the reef and the restaurants. Soufrière is close by, but most people find it hard to leave the room at all.

Picolo’s verdict

Why we chose Jade Mountain Resort

We chose Jade Mountain for romance, and it is hard to argue with. It is one of the Caribbean's best-known hotels for good reason: the design brings the Pitons into the room, and few places feel this private.

It is very expensive, and getting around means climbing a lot of steps. Anyone with limited mobility, or who wants a beach outside the door, should think twice. Open rooms also mean the weather comes in with the view.

What you get

  • Private infinity pools in most sanctuaries
  • Rooms with no fourth wall
  • Direct views of the Pitons
  • Beach access at Anse Chastanet
  • Restaurants at both resorts

Questions about Jade Mountain Resort

Do the rooms at Jade Mountain really have no fourth wall?

Yes. The sanctuaries are open on the view side, with no glass between you and the Pitons. That is the whole idea, but it also means you hear the rain and the birds.

Does Jade Mountain have a beach?

Not up on the hillside, but guests use the beach and restaurants at Anse Chastanet, the sister resort just below, which also has a reef for snorkelling.

Is Jade Mountain worth the price?

For a honeymoon or a big anniversary, many think so. The view and the privacy are unlike anywhere else on the island, but there are cheaper ways to see the Pitons, such as Ladera.
