Caro Hotel

  • Old town
  • Roman walls
  • Romantic
  • Near the cathedral
  • Quiet rooms

Valencia’s Roman and Moorish past shows through the walls here, with ancient stonework left bare in the rooms and lounges of an old palace.

Step in from the narrow streets around the cathedral and the noise drops away. The building is an old palace, and when it was restored the ancient masonry was left on show, so Roman and Moorish stones now sit beside the beds, the sofas and the tables.

The new parts are deliberately dark and soft: concrete, wood and heavy fabrics that let the old walls do the talking. Plaza de la Virgen, the square in front of the cathedral, is only a short stroll from the door, as are the tapas bars of the old town.

Picolo’s verdict

Why we chose Caro Hotel

We picked Caro for couples who want a hotel with a story. Few places let you lie in a modern bed and look at a wall that has stood since Roman times, and the rooms are calm enough to sleep well right in the old centre.

There is no pool, which matters in a Valencian August. The thick old walls also mean some rooms get little daylight, so if you want sun and a view, ask for a brighter room when you book or look elsewhere.

What you get

  • Rooms in a restored old palace
  • Roman and Moorish walls on show
  • Quiet rooms with good beds
  • Old town restaurants on the doorstep
  • Cafés on Plaza de la Virgen nearby

Questions about Caro Hotel

Can you really see Roman walls at Caro Hotel?

Yes. The restoration left Roman and Moorish masonry exposed in rooms and shared spaces, so the history is part of the décor rather than something behind glass.

Is Caro Hotel good for couples?

It is one of the most romantic places to stay in Valencia, with quiet rooms, low light and centuries of history around you. Families wanting space and a pool will be happier elsewhere.

Is Caro Hotel close to Valencia Cathedral?

Yes. The cathedral is just around the corner in the old town, and Plaza de la Virgen is only a few minutes on foot from the entrance.
