Tótem Madrid
Dark wood panels, warm lighting and a bar where the regulars live round the corner, all on a smart Salamanca street near Serrano.
Calle Hermosilla is Salamanca at its most residential: tall apartment blocks, small boutiques and few visitors. Tótem fits right in, with dark panelling, carefully placed lights and a ground-floor bar that fills with locals after work.
Rooms are compact rather than roomy, but every corner has been considered. The real draw is the address, because staying in Salamanca usually means palace hotel rates, and here it does not.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Tótem Madrid
It is our value pick for Salamanca. You get the same quiet streets and polished shops as the big hotels nearby, and the evenings feel local because the tourists are mostly elsewhere.
Rooms are on the small side, and the museums and old centre are a metro ride away. If those are the reason for your trip, a hotel further south will save you time.
