Four Seasons Hotel Madrid

  • Roof terrace
  • Pool
  • Spa
  • Centro Canalejas
  • Puerta del Sol

Marble banking halls turned into a hotel, with a roof terrace above the old centre and Puerta del Sol a few minutes down the street.

Walk in from Calle de Alcalá and the ceilings keep going up. Centro Canalejas was once a cluster of banks, and the hotel has kept their sense of weight: wide staircases, big windows and public rooms built to impress.

Up on the roof the view opens over domes and terracotta in every direction. Below, Sol, the Prado and the bars of Las Letras are all close enough to reach on foot, so the car stays at home.

Picolo’s verdict

Why we chose Four Seasons Hotel Madrid

We chose it because it removes the logistics. The service runs like clockwork, the location covers the old centre and the museums, and there is a pool and a roof terrace to retreat to when the city gets loud.

It is expensive, and it feels like a big international hotel rather than a piece of Madrid. If you want a small place with local character and a neighbourhood around it, one of the boutique options will suit you better.

What you get

  • Roof terrace over the old centre
  • Indoor pool
  • Spa
  • Restaurant and bar on site
  • Polished, attentive service
