Mirador de Dalt Vila
One of the very few places where you can sleep inside the fortified walls of Dalt Vila, with the harbour below the terrace.
Late in the evening the cruise passengers and day trippers have gone back down the hill, and the cobbled lanes of Dalt Vila belong to the people who live and sleep there. Mirador de Dalt Vila is one of them: an old town house turned into a hotel with only a handful of rooms.
Inside there is art on the walls, and from the terrace you look across the rooftops to the harbour. Dalt Vila, the walled upper town, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and its restaurants and the old fortress are right outside the front door.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Mirador de Dalt Vila
Hardly anyone else can offer a bed inside the walls. For a couple who want to explore Ibiza Town on foot and come home to something small and personal, it is the address that puts you closest to the history of the island.
There is no beach, and the lanes up to the old town are steep, which matters with heavy luggage or tired legs. If your days are about swimming and sunbeds, a hotel at Talamanca or on the east coast will serve you better.
What you get
- A handful of rooms in an old town house
- Terrace looking over the harbour
- Personal, small-hotel service
- Old town restaurants outside the door
- Harbour and boats below the walls
A day at Mirador de Dalt Vila
- Morning
- Coffee on the terrace while the harbour wakes up below.
- Midday
- A slow walk along the ramparts before the day visitors arrive.
- Afternoon
- A siesta in the cool of the thick stone walls.
- Evening
- Dinner in the lanes once Dalt Vila has gone quiet.
