Hotel Casa Fuster
A white stone modernista landmark where the grand avenue ends and Gràcia begins, with a rooftop pool looking all the way down to the sea.
Casa Fuster stands at the top end of Passeig de Gràcia, the point where Barcelona’s showpiece avenue gives way to the smaller streets of Gràcia. The building itself is the attraction: white stone, arches and marble from the city’s modernista era.
Up on the roof there is a pool and a long view down the avenue. Downstairs, the café puts on jazz evenings, and the staff have the unhurried confidence of people who have been doing this for a long time.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hotel Casa Fuster
We like it for its position between two Barcelonas. You can walk down to the Gaudí houses in the morning and up into Gràcia’s squares for dinner, and come home to a building that is a sight in its own right.
This is grand-hotel classicism, with marble and polish throughout. If you prefer clean lines and pared-back design, it will feel heavy, and a more contemporary hotel will suit you better.
