Meliá Alicante
A big hotel wedged between Postiguet beach and the marina, where you can go from the pool to the sea and on to the old town without a taxi.
From many of the rooms you look straight out over the sea, with the sand of Postiguet on one side and the yachts of the marina on the other. Down below, the pool and terraces fill up as the day warms.
The old town starts just behind the hotel, so dinner in the lanes is a short walk away. It is one of the few places in Alicante where city break and beach holiday really happen at the same address.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Meliá Alicante
The location is the reason to book. Families get beach, pool and city without any transport, and you can spend a day on the sand and an evening in the old town with no planning at all.
The building is large and plain, and it feels more like a busy beach hotel than a place with character. In July and August the pool area and the beach in front are crowded.
What you get
- Postiguet beach in front
- Outdoor pool
- Terraces facing the sea
- Next to the marina
- Good for families
