Picolo recommends · Hotel in Alicante, Spain
Casa Alberola
A mansion from another era where the Explanada ends, with high ceilings inside and the palms and boats of the marina outside the window.
Open the window and the palms of the Explanada line up below, with masts rocking in the marina beyond. The mansion has kept its high ceilings and original details, now paired with a pale, modern interior.
The old town, the harbour and the main shopping streets are all close, so you can spend a whole stay on foot. It is the hotel we would point you to if design matters as much as location.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Casa Alberola
Casa Alberola is our design choice in Alicante: a historic building handled with a light touch, in the spot where the city meets the sea. It suits couples and anyone who likes old houses with modern comfort.
There is no pool here. On hot afternoons you will walk along the seafront to Postiguet beach instead, which is easy, but worth knowing if lazy pool days are the plan.
