Vander Urbani Resort
Four old townhouses by the river, made modern inside, with a little pool on the roof looking over the old town.
From the roof of Vander Urbani you look across tiled rooftops to the castle hill, with a small pool beside you. Below, the riverbank is lined with cafe tables, and the evening crowd starts to gather as the light fades.
The hotel is spread across four old houses in the old town, joined together and given a modern interior. The restaurant downstairs has earned good reviews, so dinner can be as short as a flight of stairs.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Vander Urbani Resort
We chose it for travellers who want to stay right in the middle of things. Few hotels in Ljubljana put you this close to the river, and a rooftop pool in an old town this small is a real treat.
Space is tight. The rooms are on the small side, and at weekends the street outside can be loud late into the night, so light sleepers may be happier somewhere a little further out.
