Hotel Vila Bled
A former presidential villa in a lakeside park, where you can row out from the hotel jetty to the island before the day trippers arrive.
Early morning on the jetty, the lake is flat and the church on the island sits right in front of you. This villa was built for Tito, the Yugoslav leader, as his summer retreat, and it still feels more like a private estate than a hotel.
The grounds run down to the water through a wide park, with a bathing area for guests. Inside, the décor holds on to the look of the 1940s and 1950s, which some will love and others will find dated.

Why we chose Hotel Vila Bled
We chose Vila Bled for the setting. Few places on the lake give you this much space, this much history and such a direct line of sight to the island and the castle on its cliff.
Rooms vary, and the simpler ones can feel modest given what you pay. If you want contemporary design or a busy spa, look elsewhere. This is a stay for quiet, the view and a slower pace.

Who used to live at Hotel Vila Bled?
The villa was the summer residence of Tito, who led Yugoslavia for decades. Much of the original mid-century interior has been kept, so the history is part of the stay.
Can you swim from Hotel Vila Bled?
Yes. The hotel has its own jetty and a bathing area on the lake, so you can swim straight from the grounds in summer when the water is warm.
Is Hotel Vila Bled in the centre of Bled?
No. It is on the quieter south shore, a lakeside walk away from the town centre and the main promenade, which is why it feels so calm.
