PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering
A hotel that looks half building, half hillside, with tropical greenery tumbling over every terrace above Hong Lim Park.
From the street you see the plants before the windows: green terraces stacked up the facade, with leaves hanging over the edges. Pickering was built to blur the line between hotel and garden, and the long pool runs through the planting like a channel.
Hong Lim Park sits across the road, with Chinatown on one side and the river on the other. It is a central spot that still feels slightly removed from the towers of the bay, and the greenery softens the noise of the streets around it.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering
This is the most striking green hotel in the centre at a price that leaves room for good dinners. You can reach the hawker stalls of Chinatown in minutes and the river soon after.
Rooms are modern and comfortable, but simpler than at the grand hotels by the bay. If you want butlers, marble and a famous lobby, look elsewhere and expect to pay a good deal more.
What you get
- Tropical sky gardens on the terraces
- Long pool among the greenery
- Chinatown food stalls nearby
- Modern, straightforward rooms
- Planted facade across the whole building
