Pan Pacific Orchard
A tower opened up in layers, with gardens, trees and a pool set into open terraces high above the shopping street below.
From the outside the building looks cut open, with whole floors given over to plants and shade. Pan Pacific Orchard opened in 2023, and its terraces bring the garden up into the tower instead of keeping it at ground level.
One of those terraces holds the pool, framed by greenery and open to the breeze. Below, Orchard Road and its malls begin, and the Botanic Gardens lie a little further out, so a morning in the trees and an afternoon in the shops fit into one day.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Pan Pacific Orchard
This is the most interesting new building among Singapore’s hotels, and it pairs design with a practical base for shopping. You get greenery and air without leaving the city centre behind.
It is a big hotel with many guests, and the terrace pool can fill up at weekends. Those after a quiet, intimate stay with personal service will find smaller places elsewhere in the city.
