Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie
Granite boulders the size of houses frame the spa, the ferry harbour is a short pedal away, and the island's famous beaches are reached by bicycle.
On La Digue, life moves at the speed of a bicycle, and L'Orangeraie fits right in. The villas climb the slope just above the harbour, and the spa has been built in among the great grey boulders that define this island.
It is the biggest hotel on La Digue, yet it never feels busy. You pedal off in the morning to Anse Source d'Argent or Grand Anse and come back to a pool and a quiet terrace.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie
Our choice on La Digue if seeing the island's beaches properly is the goal. Staying here rather than visiting on a day trip from Praslin means you can reach the sand before the ferries arrive.
La Digue is small and simple, with few restaurants beyond the hotels, so evenings are quiet. Anyone who wants nightlife, shopping or a wide choice of places to eat will find the island limiting after a few days.
