Mondrian Doha
Giant chandeliers, curving shapes and a colourful ceiling over the pool: this is Doha for travellers who are tired of beige luxury.
Walk into the lobby and the scale catches you first: oversized lights, sculpted forms and sharp black and white contrasts. The Dutch designer Marcel Wanders created the interiors, and every corner seems built to surprise.
Upstairs there is a pool under an eye-catching ceiling and a large spa for slower hours. At weekends the rooftop bars fill up with people from all over Doha, so the hotel feels like part of the city's night out.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Mondrian Doha
It is our design pick. If the gold-and-marble style of many Gulf hotels leaves you cold, Mondrian offers wit and personality, plus a proper spa and a pool to back it up.
The style divides opinion, and you may find it too much. West Bay Lagoon is also well away from the old town, so count on taxis if the souk and museums are your priority.
