Low buildings line a long Caribbean beach, and the walk from your door to the water takes about as long as it takes to put on sandals.
At first light the beach is empty except for the odd early walker, and the pools sit still between the palms. The rooms are kept low and spread along the shore, so the sea is never far from view.
The estate was first turned into a resort by Laurance Rockefeller, and it still has the space of that era, with golf courses as well as sand. The spa, Spa Botanico, leans on plants and the outdoors.
