Aranwa Sacred Valley
An old hacienda in the middle of the valley, where wide lawns and ponds give children room to run and the Andes close in on every side.
Ducks cross the ponds, the lawns stretch out towards the mountains and there is room to breathe. Aranwa is set in a former hacienda, a colonial estate house, just outside the town of Urubamba.
Inside, there is a spa and a choice of restaurants, so you do not need to leave the grounds in the evening. The location in the centre of the valley makes day trips in either direction easy.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Aranwa Sacred Valley
We chose it for families and anyone who values space. It sits well placed between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, and the grounds are big enough to feel calm even when the hotel is full.
It is a large hotel, so the feel is less intimate than smaller lodges in the valley. Couples after a more private, design-led stay may prefer Rio Sagrado by the river.
