Picolo recommends · Hotel in Oslo, Norway
Scandic Holmenkollen Park
A dark timber building in Norwegian dragon style, high on the hill by the ski jump, with Oslo and the fjord spread out below.
From up here the city looks small: Oslo and the fjord fill the view below, while the ski jump at Holmenkollen rises a short walk away. The oldest part of the hotel is a dark timber building in dragon style, the ornate Norwegian style of the late 1800s with carved dragon heads on the gables.
Behind the hotel starts Nordmarka, the forest where Oslo goes hiking in summer and cross-country skiing in winter. The metro line runs from Holmenkollen down to the city centre.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Scandic Holmenkollen Park
We like it for the combination of city and forest. You can spend the day in town and be on a ski trail or a forest path the next morning, without packing up.
You are well above the centre, so evenings out in town mean a metro ride back up the hill. If you want restaurants and nightlife on the doorstep, stay downtown instead.
