Hotel St Moritz Queenstown
A fire in the lounge, the lake below the window and the restaurants of central Queenstown a few minutes downhill on foot.
Come in from the cold and the first thing you notice is the fire in the lounge. St Moritz is built in an alpine style on the slope just above the town, and many of the rooms look out across Lake Wakatipu to the mountains.
The centre is right below you, so dinner, bars and the lakefront are all within a short walk. The gondola up to Bob's Peak, the ridge above town with the luge track, is also close by.

Why we chose Hotel St Moritz Queenstown
Choose it if you want to leave the car and walk everywhere. You get a calm, warm base with a view, while still being able to stroll down for dinner and back without booking a taxi.
The walk back is the catch. The street up from the centre is steep, which you feel after a long dinner or a day on the slopes. Ask for a lake-view room, as not every room has the same outlook.
What you get
- Alpine lounge with an open fire
- Small spa
- Lake and mountain views from many rooms
- Restaurants and bars a short walk downhill
- Rooms in a warm, alpine style
