The Maybourne Riviera
A modern hotel on a cliff on the French side of the border, where every room looks straight across the water at Monaco.
At night, Monaco glitters across the water like a stage set, and you watch it from your balcony rather than from inside it. That is the point of The Maybourne Riviera, which opened on the cliffs here in 2021.
Every room faces the Mediterranean. Ceto, the seafood restaurant, is led by chef Mauro Colagreco, and the pools step down the rock in terraces above the sea.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Maybourne Riviera
This is our romantic choice on this stretch of coast. You get the view of Monaco, the cooking of one of the region’s best-known chefs and far more peace than any hotel in the principality can offer.
You are in France, not Monaco, so getting to the casino or the harbour means a taxi of about a quarter of an hour. If you want to walk out of the door into the action, stay in town.
