Le Méridien Beach Plaza
One of the few hotels in Monaco with its own stretch of sand, so the trip from bed to sea is a lift ride and a few steps.
Towel over your shoulder, you take the lift down and walk straight onto the sand. Le Méridien Beach Plaza sits at the water's edge in Larvotto, and its private beach is what sets it apart in a country where most swimming involves a club fee.
The building is big and modern, with a pool and plenty of rooms facing the sea. Up a flight of steps, the Larvotto promenade has restaurants for the evening, and the centre of Monte-Carlo lies further west along the coast.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Le Méridien Beach Plaza
We picked it for beach lovers who would rather swim than sit in a lobby. Having your own sand in Monaco is unusual, and it saves the day rate many beach clubs charge for a lounger.
This is a large hotel, and in July and August the beach and pool get crowded. If you want intimacy or old-world style, look up the hill to the Hermitage or the Métropole instead.
