Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo
The grand old hotel on Place du Casino, where the casino doors are a few steps from yours and the dining room holds three Michelin stars.
Step out of the revolving door and the casino is right there, lit up across the square, with supercars idling by the fountain. Hôtel de Paris has held this corner since 1864, and a long renovation has given it new suites and terraces on the roof.
Downstairs, Alain Ducasse runs Le Louis XV, one of the most decorated dining rooms on the coast, and the cellars beneath the hotel hold wine on a scale few places can match. The Thermes Marins spa is a short walk away and open to guests.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo
We chose it for a first trip to Monaco. No other address puts you so squarely in the story of Monte-Carlo, and the terraces, the restaurant and the square outside make it hard to want to leave.
It is one of the priciest stays on the Riviera, and you pay for the address as much as the room. The lobby is also a stop on every sightseeing route, so expect phones held high by day.
What you get
