Fairmont Monte Carlo
Monaco's biggest hotel, set by the sea below the casino, where Formula 1 cars brake for the hairpin right outside the windows.
Once a year the whole world watches the corner outside this hotel, as Formula 1 cars crawl round the tightest bend of the Monaco circuit. The Fairmont sits right on that hairpin, down by the water below the casino.
It is the largest hotel in the principality, with a pool on the roof, a choice of restaurants and rooms whose balconies face the Mediterranean. Its size makes it feel more like a small town than a boutique stay.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Fairmont Monte Carlo
For race weekend, we would choose the Fairmont over anywhere else in Monaco, simply because the race comes to you. Outside that week it offers sea views and a rooftop pool for less than the palace hotels up the hill.
It is big, and it feels it. Expect queues at breakfast and busy corridors in high season. Rooms without a sea view look back at the town, so the sea side is worth paying extra for.
What you get
- Pool on the roof
- Grand Prix hairpin outside the door
- Several restaurants on site
- Sea-view balconies
- Large full-service hotel below the casino
