Shangri-La Le Touessrok
A resort that spills onto its own small island by a footbridge, with a boat waiting to take you to an even smaller one.
The day starts at the jetty. A boat puts out across the lagoon to Ilot Mangénie, a scrap of sand and palms reserved for hotel guests, where there is a beach and a restaurant and not much else to think about.
Back at Trou d'Eau Douce the resort spreads over the mainland and a small island joined by a bridge. Further out lies Île aux Cerfs, the island with the golf course, so a stay here becomes a matter of choosing which beach to spend the day on.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Shangri-La Le Touessrok
We chose Le Touessrok for the boats. No other hotel on our list gives you a private islet and easy access to Île aux Cerfs, and that turns an ordinary beach week into something with a bit of variety.
It is a big resort, and the walk from some rooms to the sand is longer than you might expect. Île aux Cerfs also draws day-trippers from all over the island, so the best moments come early, before the public boats arrive.
