Heritage Le Telfair
White verandas in the style of an old sugar estate, a river winding through the garden and a golf course climbing into the hills.
Bel Ombre was sugar country, and Le Telfair looks the part. The buildings borrow from the old plantation houses, with white walls, wide verandas and shutters, and a small river runs through the gardens on its way to the sea.
Behind the hotel the land rises into green hills, where the golf course sits among the cane fields. Down on the shore there is a spa, several restaurants and a beach facing the open south coast, where the reef lets more of the ocean through.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Heritage Le Telfair
This is our golf pick, with a course right on the doorstep. Families who want room, greenery and things to do beyond the beach will like it too, from the nature reserve nearby to the gardens themselves.
The sea on the south coast is livelier than in the eastern lagoons, with bigger waves and fewer days of glassy water. If calm swimming is your priority, the east coast is the safer bet.
