Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands
A beach resort on the cliff above Golden Bay, with a path down to the sand and the sun setting straight into the sea in front of you.
Golden Bay faces west, so in the evening the sun drops right into the sea in front of the hotel. Malta has more rocks than sand, which makes a proper sandy beach like this one, with a path from the hotel down to it, worth a lot.
Up on the cliff you find several pools and a large spa, as well as rooms with their own terrace facing the bay. Valletta and the old towns are a day trip away, and the hotel is built for the days in between.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands
We chose it as the island’s most complete beach hotel. If your plan for Malta is mainly sand, sea and switching off, few places put you this close to a real beach.
It is a classic large resort, with buffets and rows of sunbeds. There is little choice of restaurants nearby in the evening, and anyone wanting city life or a small, personal hotel should look elsewhere.
