Iniala Harbour House
Old townhouses on the bastion wall above the Grand Harbour, joined into one hotel where no two rooms look alike.
The Grand Harbour lies right below, and across the water the Three Cities, Birgu, Senglea and Cospicua, sit on their own peninsulas. Iniala is built into St Barbara Bastion, part of the old city wall, so the view from here is hard to beat in Valletta.
The hotel is several historic townhouses joined together. Each room has its own design, with art and furniture chosen to surprise, and the restaurant on the roof looks straight out over the harbour.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose Iniala Harbour House
We chose it as our design pick in Malta. It feels like nowhere else on the island, and the harbour view from the bastion turns an ordinary evening in Valletta into the best part of the trip.
There is no pool, and this is not a place built for families. If you want predictable rooms, a big breakfast buffet and sunbeds, a resort on the coast will suit you better.
What you get
- Individually designed rooms
- Rooftop restaurant facing the harbour
- Views over the Grand Harbour
- Historic townhouses on the bastion
- Valletta cafés within walking distance
