Picolo recommends · Hotel in Amman, Jordan
The Ritz-Carlton, Amman
A newer luxury hotel in west Amman where the pool sits among terraces and the rooms are big enough to unpack a whole Jordan trip.
Late afternoon, the terraces around the pool fill with long shadows and the city spreads out in pale stone below. This is one of the more recent arrivals among Amman's luxury hotels, and it shows in the generous rooms and the calm, polished feel.
The hotel sits in the western part of the city, away from the old centre. That makes it a quiet place to land before Petra and Wadi Rum, or to recover in afterwards, with a spa and several restaurants under one roof.

Picolo’s verdict
Why we chose The Ritz-Carlton, Amman
We picked it as our Amman base because it does comfort without fuss. Large rooms, a proper spa and views across the city make it a good bookend for a road trip through Jordan.
You will not walk to the sights from here. The Citadel, the Roman theatre and downtown all mean a taxi ride, so it suits travellers who want rest more than street life on the doorstep.
